Sienna Eco Canister Steam Cleaner SSC-0312 Review

Although I believe that a lot of the steam canisters that are made today are friendly to the environment, it’s nice to run across run that actually has that designation in the name. And this supposedly Eco-friendly steam cleaner is the Sienna Eco Canister Steam Cleaner SSC-0312. This unassuming little steam cleaner might look kind of small but I think that it’s going to pack quite a bunch. Let’s take a look at what it can do around my house.

When I first received this steamer, I put it together and filled it with about 40 ounces of water. Within a few minutes, it was ready to clean and I was ready to clean with it. I decided to just jump into the fray with this system and tackle one of the biggest jobs in my house. The grout in between the tiles in my bathroom.

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews, then you know that my tile grout is infamously dirty. I have trouble cleaning it and there are very few steamers which can make short work of this herculean chore. Fortunately, the Sienna Eco Canister Steam Cleaner SSC-0312 is more than up to the task.

Using 212-degree super-heated steam and some nice pressure, this machine cleaned up my tile grout better than any other machine I’ve used. I didn’t have to use a lot of elbow grease and I didn’t have to use any cleaners. Not one—I guess that’s why this machine is eco-friendly. You can clean without using any chemicals or cleaners whatsoever.

After I finished the tile grout, I took it on a little tour around my bathroom. Thanks to its extra-long three-foot hose, I was able to clean around and behind the toilet, as well as around the sink. I was then able to attach the squeegee to the hose and clean my glass shower doors. And all of this was done with minimal effort—well, almost.

While I was cleaning the bathroom, I did notice that the trigger was not as easy to depress as I would have liked.  Holding it for just a few minutes made my hand pretty tired. I imagine that if I had to do large jobs, then the handle would turn into a real pain. This unit might be eco-friendly but it sure isn’t ergonomically designed.

After the bathroom, I then took it into my dining room, attached the mop head to it and gave my hardwood floor a good cleaning. As I expected, it did a great job. It also did a great job on my linoleum as well.

I then took it into my living room and tested it out a bit on my carpet. While I didn’t clean the whole carpet with this machine, I did spot test it on several stains that were made by my dog on the carpet. It managed to clean those up without so much as a hiccup. I’m sure if I cleaned the entire carpet, it would do a fine job on that as well.

Another thing that I didn’t like was there was no way to regulate the steam. It was all on or all off. It would have been nice to regulate the steam pressure because not every job requires me to be all gung ho about it.

I also noticed that I couldn’t easily check the water in the tank while I was using the system. This resulted in me losing steam during the middle of a job because it had run out and I wasn’t even aware I was running low. Some kind of water level indicator on this steam canister would make all of the difference.

I did like the ability to clean a variety of different surfaces with this steam machine. While there isn’t a bevy of accessories that come with this unit, they are just the right ones to get the job done. I was able to clean walls, floors, tile, hardwood, carpet, my grout and my stove – all with this one unit. That made all of the difference in the world.

Another thing to like about the Sienna Eco Canister Steam Cleaner SSC-0312 is the price. While it isn’t the cheapest canister steamer on the market, it’s pretty close to it. For the price, you get a durable, well-built machine that can really handle some of the toughest jobs you could put to it. All things considered, I think that if you are looking for a great steam cleaner, then you might want to take a good hard look at this system. It isn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it does clean very well. And by the way, is very Eco-friendly.
