The Pur Steam PS-910 Heavy Duty Garment Steamer is a steamer that looks kind of cute upon first inspection. It’s only about 10.5 inches by 9.5 inches and weighs approximately 14-pounds. I was waiting for an opportunity to review this product and add it to my collection of garment steamer reviews, so I jumped on the chance to order it.
Out of the box, I have to say that this steamer is pretty easy to put together. In only a few minutes, I had this thing assembled and ready to go. However, as I was putting it together I got the impression that maybe this thing wasn’t as sturdy as I would’ve liked. Its plastic chassis just didn’t seem all that durable, at least to me it didn’t.
First impressions can be deceiving, however, so I decided to put it through its paces. After filing the 61-ounce water tank and allowing it to heat up for about a minute, I then put it to the test. I did notice that it produced a good amount of steam for about an hour. And this steam was strong enough to really take the wrinkles out of some of my garments. On that front, it did a really good job.
Unfortunately, there were a few areas in which it didn’t perform so well. For instance, I did notice that it would occasionally spit water. Not a lot but enough for me to be concerned. Another thing that I noticed is that the steam would cycle on and off. While it may not be a big deal to some people, it did raise a few red flags for me.
All things considered, I do think this garment steamer is a decent one. For light work, I’m sure it will do the job just fine. And it does heat up quickly and delivers a nice stream of steam. I just wished that it did it more consistently.
